 Pre-employment
Testing:

Do You Pick Your Employees by How Well They Shine Their Shoes?

Jack Speer, President, The Delta Associates

Think about pre-employment testing this way
. . . if you don't test, it's like you are the general manager of a building project.  You just signed a 5-year lease agreement for some heavy  equipment.

In a site tour for investors, when asked questions about the equipment, you tell them the lease seemed like a good idea at the time.

You are unsure about its capabilities, reliability, and didn't get a technical manual.

People are not equipment, but there is a parallel in this example.  We'd never purchase equipment without doing due diligence, but we hire people without testing their capabilities, character and motivation.  It's not smart business.  We can help.

Do you Pick Your Employees Based on a Shoeshine and a Smile?

In the past, interviewers picked job candidates by how well they shined their shoes.  Most recruiters and hiring managers today go well beyond that with well constructed, in-depth interviews.  But all too often, the results are just as disappointing:  the candidate who looked and seemed so perfect lacks a strong work ethic, is rigid, has poor customer relations skills--and on and on.

Pre-employment Testing Can get you Past Subjective Factors to Facts

Pre-employment testing can take you past subjective factors, past the resume, past the interview--and past the "shoeshine and smile."  Our pre-employment tests measure key competencies.  They predict work ethic.  They can tell you something about your candidate's  judgment under fire.  They can tell you whether the candidate can add and subtract, demonstrate critical thinking skills, be effective on the telephone, or sell a product.

Be One of the Smart Organizations that Do Pre-employment Testing

More organizations don't do pre-employment test than those do.   If you're one of the organizations that don't, you're losing thousands of dollars every year through poor hiring.  You--and the rest of the organization--are experiencing the enormous frustration of employees who can't or won't do what is expected.  For $200 to $500 you'll have a report on your desk that will help you know when a top candidate walks into the room.

We have tests that assess:

  • Sales ability

  • Mathematical capabilities

  • Skills with language

  • Management capabilities

  • Basic honesty

  • Work ethic

  • Adaptability

  • Desire to achieve

and hundreds more characteristics.  We also have pre-employment tests that are designed specifically for many industries.

Some of our assessments also produce structured interview guides, based on each candidate's results on the assessment.

We Provide Total Solutions to Pre-employment Testing

We will design an overall strategy and approach to recruitment with you.  We can select the assessments that best measure the characteristics you most need.  We can provide job analyses to identify key competencies for various positions.  We can analyze the attributes of your most successful employees to identify success factors to test in your candidates.   We can even manage and track the entire recruitment function for you.

All of our pre-employment tests meet the highest standards of statistical reliability and validity and are EEOC-compliant.  All testing is done online.
